The Toffees travel to take on Sam Allardyce's stuttering Eagles and our tipster is anticipating goals when these sides lock horns in south London
Sam Allardyce had cause for celebration on Tuesday night as his Crystal Palace side came from behind to beat Bolton Wanderers in an FA Cup third round replay at Selhurst Park.
It was the first time that the Eagles have come out on top in a match since the former England boss took up the reins in south London and, with preserving their Premier League status set as Palace’s primary priority for the remainder of the campaign, Allardyce will be acutely aware of the importance of maintaining momentum in Saturday’s fixture.
Crystal Palace have picked up just one point from their first four league matches under Allardyce’s stewardship, scoring just two goals in their last five Premier League games. Paddy Power offer 11/5 (3.20) that the side from south London enjoy only their second league win in 16 outings here, while the same firm go 23/10 (3.30) that both teams are forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
Ronald Koeman’s men, however, will come into this match with confidence coursing through their veins following last weekend’s thrilling thrashing of Manchester City and the men from Merseyside will be hoping for much of the same against the relegation-threatened hosts. Paddy Power make the Toffees their 13/10 (2.30) favourites to pick up all three points.
Everton have lost just one of their last six Premier League matches and Koeman’s side will be buoyed by their recent fine form in front of goal, for Everton have found the net more than once in six of their last seven matches in the league, scoring nine without reply in their last three wins in all competitions; the visitors are available at a tempting 5/4 (2.25) to continue their scoring streak by notching two or more goals in south London.
Palace may have been shot-shy of late, but the Eagles have found the net in all but one of their last seven matches on home soil and former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, who scored twice in the FA Cup win against Bolton Wanderers in midweek, will be determined to make his mark against the Toffees. the big Belgian is available at 13/8 (2.63) with Paddy Power to find the net at any time.
There is, therefore, plenty of potential for goals when these two teams renew their rivalry and Paddy Power’s even money (2.0) quote for more than two goals to be scored offers superb value, for the selection would have landed in six of Palace’s last seven games at Selhurst Park, as well as in each of Everton’s last four fixtures.
