Jay-Z's entertainment platform is giving back.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the rapper's Tidal announced on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 that ticket proceeds from its 3rd annual Tidal X: Brooklyn concert will benefit various hurricane relief efforts. The musical event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY.
As the website noted, several relief organizations will receive donations, including "Global Giving, All Hands Volunteers, Kids in Need Foundation, Direct Relief, One America Appeal, Greater Houston Community Foundation, American Civil Liberties Union, Miami Community Foundation and more."
Performers for the concert, which will be hosted by radio DJ Angie Martinez, have yet to be confirmed. However, in previous years, the likes of Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, and Nicki Minaj graced the stage.
While tickets go on sale for the general public on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. EST on Ticketmaster, Tidal members can already purchase tickets at Tidal.com/Brooklyn, where the event will also be livestreamed.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, several celebrities have joined efforts to support hurricane victims over the last month. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, for example, donated $1 million to J.J. Watt's Hurricane Harvey relief fund in early September. Meanwhile, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Reese Witherspoon, Blake Shelton, Jamie Foxx, and countless others participated in the televised fundraiser event, Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief.
The star-studded telecast aimed to "bring the country together to raise funds, spirits, and help rebuild Texas in the wake of this unprecedented devastation." According to ET, it raised over $44 million for victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Proceeds benefited several organizations, such as the United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas, and The Mayor's Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief.
